About the Author

Rachel Baxley

Rachel is an experienced writer and editor with a strong background in academia. Neither her career path nor her journey through higher education could be called “linear,” but she does have a bachelor’s in philosophy and a master’s in criminology and criminal justice.

As for writing chops, she’s got them in spades (she wrote humbly). She’s worked for university writing centers at both the University of Central Florida and University of North Florida, helping undergraduate and graduate students alike improve their writing. More than seven years of reading and helping to edit student writing has given her a keen eye for errors and a number of methods for improving them.

In her freelance career, she’s worked with a number of different educational organizations, including Method Schools and Penn Foster, to produce academic content. She also provides editing services for a number of graduate students and SEO companies.

After many years in Florida, Rachel recently relocated to the Bay Area of California and is enjoying the change of scenery. On a personal level, she hopes to one day heal the painful division between fans of Star Wars and fans of Star Trek, as she believes the two franchises deliver vastly different contributions to the culture, both of which she will happily expound upon at length.
