When I write, I usually create the introduction last. Even though I have a plan on how to get from A to B to C, I’ll often end up taking a different path as I go along, and I prefer to wait to write the finished “map” until I’ve reached the end.

Obviously, though, you can’t do that with a blog, and so this introductory post is a bit of a struggle. Theoretically, this post will end up buried at the end of a long archive of brilliant writing that will speak for itself. However, it’s got to start somewhere.

As a professional writer, my blog should be about one thing. I see the wisdom in that — this isn’t a place for rambling personal stories — but I’m not certain I can pick just one thing. I’m not sure that’s the best showcase of my abilities, and besides, three posts a week about crochet won’t even hold my interest, let alone yours.

I expect this blog will largely be devoted to pop culture: reviews, recaps, commentaries, etc. I’d say baseball fandom could conceivably fall under the pop culture umbrella, so I’m sure you’ll hear about the A’s and the Marlins as baseball season gets underway.

I’ll have a separate “About Me” page, so I can go ahead and end this introduction here. However, since the internet is a visual medium, I’ll just leave you with a picture of my very dignified mutt, Plato.
